This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application available on Google Play Store. Please read this policy carefully. If you do not agree with its terms, please discontinue use of our app.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide Directly
- Account information: Full name, email address, and password when you register
- Financial data: Transaction records, income and expense amounts, account balances, budget limits, planned payments, and categories — all entered manually by you
- Profile information: Any details you add to your profile within the app
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Device identifiers: Android Advertising ID used by Google AdMob
- App usage data: Features used, screens visited, session duration
- Push notification token: To deliver payment reminders and alerts
- Crash reports: Error logs to help us fix bugs and improve stability
- Login method: Whether you signed in via email, Google, or Facebook
2.3 Information from Third-Party Sign-In
If you sign in using Google or Facebook, we receive basic profile information (name, email, profile photo) from those services, subject to your privacy settings on those platforms.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and manage your Spendly account
- Store and sync your financial data securely across sessions
- Send push notifications for planned payment reminders and budget alerts
- Display personalized or non-personalized advertisements via Google AdMob
- Analyze app usage to improve features and user experience
- Diagnose technical problems and fix crashes
- Respond to your support requests and account deletion requests
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties for their own marketing purposes.
4. Third-Party Services
Spendly integrates the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy governing how they handle data:
Used for user authentication, secure data storage (Firestore), push notifications, and crash analytics. All data is encrypted in transit via HTTPS/TLS.

Used as an optional sign-in method. We receive your name and email address from Facebook when you choose this login option.

5. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored securely in Google Firebase Firestore, which provides industry-standard encryption both in transit (TLS/HTTPS) and at rest.
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.
While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your data, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure.
6. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with our services. Specifically:
- Account data: Retained until you delete your account
- Financial data: Retained until you delete your account or specific records
- Ad identifiers: Managed by Google AdMob per their retention policy
- Crash logs: Retained for up to 90 days
Upon account deletion, all your personal data including transactions, accounts, budgets, planned payments, and profile information will be permanently deleted within 7 business days.
7. Your Rights & Account Deletion
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete data
- Delete your account and all associated data
- Object to processing of your personal data
- Data portability — request a copy of your data
- Opt out of personalized advertising via device settings
How to Delete Your Account
You can delete your account in two ways:
- In-app: Go to Settings → Delete Account to instantly and permanently delete your account and all associated data.
- By request: Submit a deletion request via our Account Deletion Request Form or email us at madushanka.lasi@gmail.com.
Deletion requests will be processed within 7 business days.
8. Children's Privacy
Spendly is designed for users aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18 years of age. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at madushanka.lasi@gmail.com and we will promptly delete that information.
9. Advertising & Opt-Out
Spendly displays advertisements through Google AdMob. These ads may be personalized based on your interests and device identifiers.
To opt out of personalized ads:
- Android: Go to Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalization
- Or reset your Advertising ID: Settings → Google → Ads → Reset Advertising ID
Opting out will result in non-personalized ads being shown instead. The number of ads displayed will not change.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Your continued use of Spendly after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
